HOAX: Report of person with weapon at Permian

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - Ector County ISD has released a summary of what happened at Permian.

• A call was made to the Univesity of Texas Permian Basin dispatch claiming there was an active shooter at Permian High School.
• UTPB informed all law enforcement agencies in the area.
• The school was then placed on lockdown.
• Officers cleared the school of any threat.

The district says they will now attempt to find the caller who made the false statement.

ECISD also said that they cannot say enough how thankful they were for the response to the situation.

UPDATE: The lockdown at Permian High School has been lifted and all students and staff are safe.

According to ECISD, the report made to police was a hoax.

Students are not being dismissed early.

Permian High School is in lockdown right now due to a report of a person on campus with a weapon.

Law enforcement is on the scene.
